Peter King discusses several topics in this week's MMQB, but one concerned me: "The incredible case of Matty Ice?"
I assure you that no case of Natty Ice has ever been incredible. So Matty Ice being incredible is disconcerting to me.

Mike and Tom play nice for once and highlight a few commercials that made them smile. Plus: prop bet results, the FO Staff Playoff League, and the results of our first ever Playoff Fantasy Challenge!

Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Clinton Portis didn't call that fourth-down draw, PK -- it was Coach Janky Spanky. For shame!
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Ooooh, so close. I kept reading and reading, and I suddenly realized on page four that King had still not mentioned Favre at all. I started wondering if he might actually make it through the whole column without praising Favre, but then he broke down in the "Ten Things". So close...
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Same here. I thought maybe since it was a bye week...
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
"Matt Cassel has been allowed to throw it way far downfield"
Way far? Has PK been possessed by Hannah Montana?
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
I feel like Springs has confirmed what I said in this thread:
http://footballoutsiders.com/extra-points/masters-disguise
The Redskins limited the Cowboys not on any great genius scheme, but rather good, physical, fundamentally sound man coverage by their corners.
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
"As quick as I could, I hard-tapped the brakes and veered to the left. The man never budged, never looked up, never acted like there was a car or another being in his planet. I missed him by 20 feet, maybe."
Wow, that is close. As a pedestrian, I'm always on the watch for cars passing me from 3 lanes over.
Re: PK's close call
No kidding. Being a pedestrian in a large city (Chicago), you basically get missed by 20 feet every time you cross a busy street. I rarely take special notice of a car when it misses me by two or three feet.
Though this is why I read PK. He has a conversational tone, but is so out of touch with reality. The most egregious example of this was his irritation (Costas's, actually) when hotel room service knocked on the door, asking if they had permission to enter.
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Why does everyone keep saying the Wildcat won the game for the Dolphins again this week? They averaged 4.3 ypc out of it. Effective, but it didnt win the game. Why not just say the Miami D was good?
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Good defense + Reasoned analysis = boring.
Gadget plays + Things named after wild animals = awesome.
Sorry, that's the best justification I can come up with.
Re: MMQB: RBs Calling Plays
Two things I think I think
#1 That's a pretty cool think Dawkins does. Most players are content with donating money or setting up a charity and feeling good about themselves, but Dawkins takes it a step further with the one on one time he spends with those kids. This isn't to disparage the other guys, but it's just really cool what Dawkins does.
#2 It's refreshing to hear a player admit his limitations, Shawn Springs has trouble with small shifty receivers, and he admits it.
Edit:
One more thing
e. Roger Goodell said Sunday it was "highly unlikely'' the schedule will be adjusted for 2009 to add more regular-season games while subtracting preseason games. Good. I hope it's "highly unlikely'' for the next 30 years that the league would play more than 16 regular-season games.
Looks like PK has completely changed his mind on this.

"The incredible case of Matty Ice?"
Someone needs to inform PK that his name is Matty Heisman.
